In this article we tell you some of the best kept secrets of the Costa Brava. We welcome you to the most touristic coast of Emporda in recent years. The secret corners of Costa Brava - Mastorrencito
We start by Palamós and we go north; we find Cala Margarida a small beach of fishermen and humble people who live by the sea.
Further on we find La Fosca beach, which belongs to the municipality of Palamós.
It is a very beautiful place with a fine sand beach, bars, beach bars and a lot of water activities at your fingertips such as kayaking, surfing, sup, hiking, etc.
There are several campsites around it which provide a large influx of tourists during the summer months of July and August.
The same can be said of Castell beach, similar to La Fosca but with a special charm.
Surrounded by vegetation and centuries-old forests, you will find one of the best beaches on the Costa Brava. It is a romantic place, ideal to go with the couple during the sunset to contemplate the sunset.
Continuing a little further north of Castell, you will find the Iberian Town of the Castell area; a site with a lot of history behind it.
Going down the cliff we find rocks that are very characteristic of the area for all kinds of diving or snorkeling.
Right next to it, we find a corner with a very beautiful cove ...
A very cozy corner 10 min. walking from the beach of Castell. It has a difficult access because the cliffs that surround the area are a bit vertical, despite that, with good footwear there is optimal access.
The best thing is to go with a small boat and moor in the heart of the cove where you can enjoy crystal clear water, underground caves and a lot of native marine species of the Mediterranean coast.
It is called "La Foradada" because in the same cove there is a majestic rock with a hole in the middle that runs through it until it reaches a small space of oval rocks similar to a beach.
You can cross the rock by swimming, by boat, by kayak or in any boat that does not have a draft of more than 1 meter.
Following the coastal path to the north, towards Calella de Palafrugell, there are a lot of extraordinary coves.
Examples such as Cala Corbs, Cala Canyers or Cala Estreta are unique places to enjoy the incomparable beauty of the Baix Empordà coast. Before arriving at the Jardins de Cap Roig, which belong to the municipality of Calella de Palafrugell, we find ourselves in a virgin area amidst large cliffs, underwater caves and crystal clear waters.
LA RUSA'S TUB
A magical corner just below Jardins de Cap Roig, with a small cove of small stones.
Next to it, there is a very simple little hut where a long time ago (legend has it) lived a Russian woman who ran naked through the house and the cove when the Palamós fishermen returned from an intense day of fishing.
It is a place with a difficult access on foot, better to go in a small boat to immerse yourself in the most intimate spaces that the small bathtub offers us.
It is an ideal place for diving or underwater fishing; thanks to the great variety of aquatic species along with very calm waters, without currents. Without a doubt, it is one of the secret spots of the Costa Brava.
Past Tamariu, entering the Begur Coast, before reaching the Aiguablava beach is the Gispert Cave, very famous for its long depth.
A cavity in the middle of the cliffs of Begur, about 150m long. It can usually be visited by kayak or swimming. The entrance is small but as you enter it becomes wider. It is recommended to visit first thing in the morning because the sun illuminates the entire cave with the light of dawn.
